On choosing Richmond: “I fell in love with all aspects of the university the moment I stepped on campus. The stellar academics coupled with an amazing field hockey program and even more amazing coaching staff made me feel immediately at home.”

Other colleges considered: Holy Cross, American and Davidson

Field hockey honors: 2017 Festival Pool D Champions, All Main-line honorable mention, All-Central League honorable mention, Radnor Defender of the Year

Other sports and activities: lacrosse, basketball, swimming and Special Olympics Floor Hockey

Other honors: National Honors Society and Distinguished Honor Roll

Best field hockey moment: “My best field hockey experience isn’t a moment but an entire regular season. This past season my high school team and I held a 14-game winning streak during our regular season. It’s been amazing to watch, and a privilege to experience, our team growing from last season to this season.”

Field hockey goals: “My field hockey goals in high school are to qualify for the state tournament this year and next, and for Mayhem to win as many tournaments as possible over the next two years. My goals for college are to better myself as a player and a person, while helping to lead my team to an A-10 championship.”

De Cain’s shout-out: “I would like to thank my teammates, coaches and family. I would not be the person I am today without their continuous support for me and my love for the game. I especially want to thank my club coach, Alex. If I hadn’t started playing with her in her basement in seventh grade I don’t think I would be where I am today. Additionally, I want to thank my teammates for pushing me every practice and game to preform to the best of my ability. Lastly, I want to thank my family for driving me to countless tournaments and for their unwavering support for me since I started playing field hockey.”
